Sustainability practices are embedded throughout CellPath’s culture, ensuring we take responsibility for the impact our actions have on the environment and society.
CellPath is committed to making the world a greener place keeping our ecological footprint as small as possible. We know ecological sustainability to be a key component of our wider corporate social responsibility and strive to reduce our impact on the environment to a minimum by conducting environmentally friendly, professional and safe operations.
Hopper Tube Packaging
Our hopper tube packaging is manufactured from fully recycled plastic, known as rPET (recycled polyethylene terephthalate), which can be continuously recycled.
This material is being used as an alternative to PVC, a highly hazardous material for the environment as it is difficult to break down and biodegrade.
Switching our hopper tube packaging from PVC to rPET will save the equivalent weight in kilograms of two male Asian elephants of PVC over the next five years!
Cardboard Cassette Threads
We've swapped the plastic cassette threads and switched to specialist cardboard.
These specialist cardboard cassette threads are made from high-strength fibres which meet the targets specified in the EU's waste management hierarchy within the EU Waste Framework Directive (2006/12/EC), as well as the essential requirements of the EU Packaging Waste Directive 94/62/EC.
As they're made from pulp consisting of cellulose, hemicellulose and some lignin, the threads are fully biodegradable.
We estimate this change from plastic to cardboard, the combined length of plastic threads saved each year will be equivalent to:
- 1.5 times the length of the channel tunnel
- 225 times the height of the Eiffel Tower
- 26 times the length of the Golden Gate Bridge
Paper Sack Packaging
By changing our packaging to paper sacks, an eco-friendly and biodegradable alternative that this easily recyclable and compostable, we will significantly reduce the amount of plastic used while maintaining the same first-class standards.
This change applies to the below products:
CellNass Recall Boxes
We've replaced all foam inserts inside of our CellNass Recall Boxes with recyclable cardboard.
This alternative is fully recyclable and goes a long way to reducing the build-up of non-recyclable materials being used.
Its sturdiness equals that of its foam predecessor, ensuring that we're still safely transporting your materials while continuing to enhance the implementation of environmentally friendly practices where possible.
Kraft Boxes
Where possible, we have switched all of our bleached packagings to kraft.
Bleached boxes are generally treated with some form of chlorine-based bleach, which can produce highly toxic dioxins and other toxic organochlorine by-products that negatively impact the environment.
